Tutored at Wanamaker. John finished the unforgiving servant. Then he read the parable of it in Good News for Modern Man. He got the point but said he thought it would be hard to forgive. So I was able to tell him that we had to ask God to change us before we could forgive. Talked to Dr. Clayton for a long time today man, if I'd talked to him earlier, I think I could have helped George and Bradford more. He explained a lot about his methods.
Gomer and Texas Mary stopped by today! Gomer was on fulltime staff when I joined summer staff. He was at the Broad Street Teen Haven with Delores. A girl with long, blond hair from Texas came on board the same time I did. She was tall, attractive, and husky. She was also very strong. We called her Texas Mary. None of the kids messed with her! Gomer knew Mary from before. About the middle of the summer, they announced their engagement. They married at the end of the summer and came back to live at Broad Street. However, Gomer accepted a country youth pastorate in the spring, which was the reason I moved to Broad Street to work with Delores.
Jim and Bill have two houses they're considering. Delores brought back a regular flower garden in the station wagon! They were donated for camp. Larry got back today. I haven’t told you about Larry! Larry Graybill is from the Lancaster area, and joined staff during seminar this spring. Teen Haven holds a two week inner city seminar for college students during spring break. Larry joined Delores and me at Broad Street to work with the guys. Larry’s decided he doesn’t need to keep his VW and I’ve been thinking about buying it. Barb advices against trying to own a car here. Everybody keeps the hoods chained so that people won’t steal the batteries. Which is kind of inconvenient when you have to check the oil!
Ronnie and Greg brought Annie back tonight and Ronnie and I played one and a half vigorous games of ping pong. Ronnie says they have three new tables at Ben Franklin High School. The kids play during and after lunch.
